Our Story

Mission Statement

Richmond Exotics is a not-for-profit organisation working in and around Washington, Tyne and Wear.

Family run by Chris and Becky Richmond (with the occasional help of the kids!), Richmond Exotics are passionate about advancing husbandry within the exotic animal world, working alongside schools, reptile shops and with the public to raise awareness of the correct care and husbandry that comes long with keeping such incredible animals.

We also rescue, rehabilitate and rehome those animals that find themselves with nowhere left to go. Richmond Exotics are a caring, non-judgemental organisation that are keen to help if you and your pet need to part ways. If you're interested in rehoming an animal, please contact us directly for a chat. We'd love to hear from you! With a combined experience of just over thirty years working with and caring for reptiles, invertebrates and birds of prey, we have had a lifelong love of animals. In 2023, we decided it was time to branch out with our work, and formalise what has been our passion and labour of love for many years. By early 2024 we aim to become a registered charity, enabling us to fundraise for the animals we care for, reach a wider community of animal lovers and extend our education programme into something more formal. We're ecstatic to have you with us on this journey!
